Herpes zoster is an acute dermatomal infection associated with reactivation of Varicella-Zoster Virus and is characterized by unilateral pain and a vesicular or bullous eruption. 50% of patients get pain-free 50 days after onset of symptoms; 95% pain-free at 6 months.
